Evidence-based practice (EBP) is the process of collecting, processing, and implementing research findings to improve clinical practice, the work environment, or patient outcomes. And “it also requires the health professional to consider characteristics of the practice context in which they work.” (Hoffman et al., 2017, p. 4).
Evidence- based practice (EBP) is known as a systematic approach that implements research findings in order to improve clinical practice. And “it also requires the health professional to consider characteristics of the practice context in which they work.” (Hoffman et al., 2017, p. 4).

After reading the article entitled “U. S Technologists Radiation Exposure Perceptions and Practices”, I found it interesting to talk about one change made by the National Council on Radiation Protection and Measurements. It was after the World War II (1949-1960), they published 19 reports which considerably changed the radiation Protection concepts. Since they cannot counteract the ability of the x-ray to cause harm (regardless of dosages), they made a change from the amount of dose someone can tolerate to a maximum permissible dose. That is, any dosage of radiation can cause damage to human body. However, in 1959, another institution in the field came up with new understanding of dose and dose effects. It is known by the name of International Commission on Radiological Protection (ICRP), which established the principle of ALARA (As low as reasonably achievable). That is, they decrease the radiation dose as low as reasonable while they maintain the diagnostic quality for x-rays exams.
I think some protective methods took so long to implement because they study not only requires several steps where they have to collects and process data but also the researchers need to make lots of cautious because they are the first ones at risk of being harmed or killed by the radiation. Furthermore, there is a higher risk of getting damaged or killed when evidence-based practice or protocols are ignored or misused.

From my experience, a hospital allows their personnel medicals to set up the sterile fields without wearing sterile gown. Whereas there are certain steps for someone to follow before setting a sterile field. The fact that the medical professionals do not properly use their personal protective equipment (PPE), the chance for the patients to get infections.
